Processing

Any operation or set of operations performed on personal data or information.
This term may have a specific definition in certain jurisdictions. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), for example, processing means any operation (or set of operations) that is performed on personal data (or on sets of personal data), whether automated or not, and includes:
  • Collection.
  • Recording.
  • Organisation.
  • Structuring.
  • Storage.
  • Adaptation or alteration.
  • Retrieval.
  • Consultation.
  • Use.
  • Disclosure by transmission.
  • Dissemination or otherwise making available.
  • Alignment or combination.
  • Restriction, erasure or destruction.
