New practice notes on EPCs, DECs and ACRs

Practical Law Property has launched new practice notes on energy performance certificates (EPCs), display energy certificates (DECs) and air conditioning reports (ACRs).
Practical Law Property has launched new practice notes covering the current regimes for energy performance certificates (EPCs), display energy certificates (DECs) and air conditioning reports (ACRs) under the Energy Performance of Buildings (England and Wales) Regulations 2012 (SI 2012/3118) (EPC Regulations) or the Building Regulations 2010 (SI 2010/2214).
The practice notes cover:
  • The obligations imposed by the EPC Regulations and the exemptions from those obligations.
  • How to tell whether an EPC/DEC/ACR is valid.
  • Searching the public registers of EPCs/DECs/ACRs.
  • The enforcement regime and penalties for non-compliance.
Included in the practice notes are also details of the new government guidance on accessing data from the EPC registers (April 2015) (see DCLG: Accessing register data under the Energy Performance of Buildings (England and Wales) Regulations 2012 (April 2015)) and DECs (August 2015) (see DCLG: A guide to display energy certificates and advisory reports for public buildings (August 2015)).
