OGC data security provisions in ICT contracts become mandatory

The data security provisions contained in the model services agreement and accompanying guidance of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) have become mandatory for all UK government information and communications technology contracts signed on or after 1 July 2008. Minor changes have been made to the model agreement to reflect this. The amendments implement the data protection standards required for the processing of personal data following the government's recent review of data-handling procedures (see Legal update, Government publishes final report on data-handling procedures). A user name and password are required to access documents on the OGC website.
