Appellant not "surviving spouse" under the Rent Act 1977 due to invalid marriage (Court of Appeal)

In Northumberland & Durham Property Trust Ltd v Ouaha [2014] EWCA Civ 571, the Court of Appeal held that the appellant was not a "surviving spouse" under paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 1 to the Rent Act 1977 as the Sharia marriage she had entered into with the deceased was not a valid marriage under English law.
