High Court refuses to enforce Belgian default judgment being challenged by defendant in Belgium

In Reeve and others v Plummer [2014] EWHC 4695 (QB), the High Court considered whether to enforce a Belgian default judgment when the appellants alleged they had not been given proper notice of the proceedings. The decision clarifies aspects of Article 34(2) of the 2001 Brussels Regulation, and the identical provision of the Recast Brussels Regulation, relating to the enforcement of judgments from other EU member states.
