The Investigatory Powers Tribunal has declined to award compensation to a journalist, following its earlier ruling that his rights under Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights had been infringed by an authorisation for data issued under section 22 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000. (News Group Newspapers Ltd and others v Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis [2016] UKIP14 176-H, 4 February 2016.)
