How to create a link to our sites

Information on how to create a link to our site
Contents

Introduction

We encourage links to our sites.

You can link to: the home page of any of our sites; individual notes or articles; know-how practice areas, document types, article series or products; web links; organisations or contacts.

Each of these items has a unique identification number, and we do not delete notes or articles, or change their URL, so you can link to them with confidence that the link will not be broken.

To create a link, either copy the link (from the address bar in your browser, or right-click on the link to the page and then copy it) then paste into the application in which you wish to create the link.

You can also add links to your "Favorites" (or "Bookmarks") - for Internet Explorer users, simply click "Favorites" and then "Add to favorites" from the top-menu (for other browsers, please consult the specific Help menu for instructions on how to do this).

Alternatively, you can use a PLC Reference link described below, which is makes finding articles and linking to them easier.

PLC Reference

A PLC Reference is an eight digit number with a hyphen separating the first and second, and fourth and fifth digits. For example, the PLC Reference to this page is: 3-107-3881.

A PLC Reference does not distinguish between resource types.

The short URL for a PLC Reference is: http://www.practicallaw.com/3-107-3881

Can I link through to a specific web service?

If you are setting up a link and want to ensure that the link is to a specific web service, then you can preface the link with a particular web service domain. The resource will then appear within the context of that web service. The domains are as follows (using the PLC Reference for this page as an example of what the link will look like):
