Information Tribunal holds Home Office not obliged to disclose details of police officers performing RIPA role

The First-Tier Tribunal (Information Rights) has upheld a decision of the Information Commissioner that the Home Office correctly applied the personal data exemption under section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in order to refuse a request for details of individual police officers who were designated as single points of contact (SPoCs). SPoCs advise on applications for communications data under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.
