ECJ finds Data Protection Directive applies to domestic CCTV overlooking public footpath

The ECJ has given its preliminary ruling to the Supreme Administrative Court of the Czech Republic that the Data Protection Directive applies to CCTV installed by a person on his family home for crime prevention purposes and directed towards the public footpath and neighbouring house. (František Ryneš v Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, Case C-212/13, 11 December 2014.)
