High Court rules incorrect statement immediately clarified was not defamatory

The High Court has found that an incorrect statement made by a police officer during a child protection conference that a father had a previous conviction or caution for domestic violence was not capable of being defamatory as the officer had immediately clarified the veracity of the statement. (Elliott v Staffordshire Police [2015] EWHC 3165 (QB).)
