Charity Commission withdraws public benefit guidance and issues interim advice for charity trustees

On 21 December 2011, the Charity Commission voluntarily withdrew the relevant parts of its public benefit guidance following the decision of  the Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery Chamber) in Independent Schools Council v Charity Commission for England and Wales and others [2011] UKUT B27 (TCC) (2 December 2011). The Commission has also published interim advice for charity trustees in question and answer form.
