Mitigation

A duty to mitigate that arises in relation to the commission of a tort (www.practicallaw.com/A37096) or breach of contract. The claimant (www.practicallaw.com/A34662) cannot recover damages for any part of his loss which he could have avoided by taking reasonable steps.
