Zero hours contract

A type of contract between a business and a casual worker in which the business does not guarantee a particular number of hours work.
The employment status of someone working under a zero hours contract is determined in the usual way, by reference to the key factors as set out in Practice note, Employment status (1): employee, worker or self-employed?.
