Scottish local authority loses appeal in Supreme Court over disclosure of equal pay data

In South Lanarkshire Council v Scottish Information Commissioner [2013] UKSC 55 (29 July 2013) the Supreme Court dismissed South Lanarkshire Council's appeal against the decision of the Scottish Information Commissioner that information on the number of its employees in a particular post at a particular point on the council's pay scales did not breach the Data Protection Act 1998 and should be provided to the applicant.
