On 25 March 2014, the Department for Communities and Local Government wrote to all local authority chief executives in England setting out the basis on which the Secretary of State is minded to exercise his new power in section 39 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 to direct compliance with the Code of Recommended Practice on Local Authority Publicity.
