In Specht C-501/12, Schombera C-502/12, Wieland C-503/12, Schӧnefeld C-504/12, Wilke C-505/12, Schini C-506/12 v Land Berlin and Schmeel C-540/12, Schuster C-541/12 v Bundesrepublik Deutschland, the ECJ considered whether a German federal law which set the pay of civil servants by reference to age at the time of recruitment, breached the Equal Treatment Directive.
