UK implementation of the UCITS IV Directive

The UCITS IV Directive (2009/65/EC) (UCITS IV) was implemented in the UK on 1 July 2011 by way of the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities Regulations 2011 (SI 2011/1613) and changes to the FSA Handbook. This practice note provides a high-level overview of the UK implementation of UCITS IV. It also discusses the proposed introduction of tax transparent funds (TTFs).

UCITS IV recast and replaced the UCITS Directive (85/611/EEC) and made significant changes to the UCITS regime. For more information about the UCITS regime, see Practice note, UCITS and the UCITS Directive.
