Funding: the key reforms coming into force in April 2013

by PLC Dispute Resolution
This article focuses on changes to civil litigation funding that are being brought into force on 1 April 2013 by the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, and which implement Lord Justice Jackson's recommendations for reform. The article also considers the Simmons v Castle 10% increase in general damages, which also comes into effect on 1 April 2013.
Note that all of our maintained content is being reviewed and amended as necessary to reflect the changes. On or before 1 April 2013 (when the majority of the reforms take effect), our maintained materials will have been revised and updated to take account of the new regime and transitional provisions.
