Anchor statements

A document prepared by each party who has agreed to enter into the collaborative law ( process. The statements are prepared by the parties before they attend the first four-way meeting. The statements set out:

  • The reasons why the parties have chosen the collaborative law process to resolve their dispute.

  • The parties' hopes and aspirations for the future.

The anchor statements are referred to throughout the collaborative law process to overcome any impasse between the parties.

Anchor statements can also be used in family mediation.
