Commission clears acquisition of Ogalas by Home Retail and Durinicum

On 16 April 2007, the European Commission announced that it has decided under Article 6(1)(b) of the EC Merger Regulation to approve the acquisition of joint control of Ogalas Limited by the UK companies Home Retail Group plc (Home Retail) and Durinicum (Consultancy) Ltd (Durinicum) (COMP/M.4616). Ogalas sells products for the home in Ireland under the "Home Store" and "More" brands. Home Retail sells general merchandise, home improvement and DIY products in the UK and Ireland under the "Homebase" and "Argos" brands. Durinicum is active in construction, development and regeneration. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger procedure.
