US Dodd-Frank Act: issues for UK corporate lawyers

The PLC US team has published an article on some of the key aspects of the US Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 that may affect UK corporate lawyers.

On 21 July 2010, President Obama signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 into law (see PLC US Finance and PLC US Corporate & Securities, Legal update, Congress Passes Dodd-Frank Financial Regulatory Reform Bill (www.practicallaw.com/9-502-6547)). The Act puts in place wide-ranging reforms of the US financial regulatory system including in the areas of corporate governance, executive compensation, private equity and the authority of the SEC. Many of the reforms may affect non-US companies.
