Care and placement proceedings should run concurrently (Court of Appeal)

In Surrey County Council v S [2014] EWCA Civ 601, the local authority appealed against supervision orders allowing two young children to remain in their mother’s care. The local authority argued that care orders with a view to adoption should be made, but did not issue placement proceedings. The Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal and held that the placement proceedings should have run concurrently with the care proceedings.
