Residential landlords checking immigration status of tenants: first pilot in West Midlands

From 1 December 2014, the Home Office is piloting the right to rent in certain areas of the West Midlands. Property owners will need to check that someone has the right to live in the United Kingdom before letting a property to them or accepting them as a lodger.
