On 11 March 2016, the European Commission announced that it has decided under Article 6(1)(b) of the EU Merger Regulation to approve the partnership between Électricité de France (EDF) and China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) in relation to the development, construction and operation of three nuclear power plants in the UK at Hinkley Point, Sizewell and Bradwell.
