State aid

Aid from a Member State (www.practicallaw.com/1-107-6833) to a business that the Treaty of Rome declares generally incompatible with the aims of the common market. Broadly it means a Member State’s financial aid that favours selected businesses and has the potential to distort competition and affect trade between EU Member States.
