Solicitor-own client costs assessment can be held in private (Court of Appeal)

In Dechert LLP v Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation Ltd [2016] EWCA Civ 375, the Court of Appeal considered whether detailed assessment proceedings of solicitor-own client costs should be heard in private under CPR 39.2 on the grounds that any waiver of legal professional privilege by the client, who was subject to a continuing SFO investigation, was limited to enabling its solicitors to contest the challenge to their bill.
