On 16 June 2016, Advocate General Wathelet handed down his opinion to the European Court of Justice, on the Irish Supreme Court's request for a preliminary ruling on the transfer of care proceedings under Article 15 of Council Regulation (EC) No 2201/2003 (BIIR) in respect of the case Child and Family Agency v JD (Case C-428/15).
