Practical Law may have moderated questions and answers before publication. No answer to a question is legal advice and no lawyer-client relationship is created between the person asking the question and the person answering it. Where appropriate, you should consult your own lawyer for legal advice. Practical Law's employees are not practising solicitors or barristers. The Ask scope and rules apply.

Can third party information held by a local authority be disclosed if ordered by the court?

Where the family court have made an order to say that documents including third party complaints held by a local authority should be disclosed to the parties, should such documents be redacted to remove the third party details or as it is the court that is making the order can they simply be disclosed and the third party told of the disclosure?
