Katharine Paulson worked at Macfarlanes for nine years specialising in estate, residential and agricultural law. She advised both private and institutional clients on a variety of property matters including managing all aspects of rural land and buying and selling agricultural portfolios. Katharine joined Practical Law in October 2011 and leads Practical Law Agriculture & Rural Land. Katharine is a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association. She is currently a non-practising solicitor.
Nikki Martin Nikki Martin trained at Clarke Willmott and joined their commercial property department on qualification in 2001. She then worked at Burges Salmon before moving to the real estate team at Pinsent Masons. In 2005, Nikki joined Osborne Clarke where she focused on secured lending and advising administrators, liquidators and creditors on corporate and individual insolvency property issues. Nikki joined Practical Law in October 2008 and is Head of Practical Law Property (which includes the new Practice Areas of Planning, Property Litigation and Agriculture and Rural Land). Nikki is currently a non-practising solicitor.
Peter Harvey qualified at Burges Salmon in 1993 and since then has been involved in environmental issues, particularly litigation. He joined Practical Law in 2007 from Veale Wasbrough where he led the Environment and Regulatory Team. Peter has extensive experience advising on environmental issues for commercial, public sector and institutional clients (including FTSE100 companies, local authorities, government departments and agencies). In addition, he has also acted in environmental litigation in the civil and criminal courts. Peter has a Masters in Environmental Law and before qualifying as a lawyer he worked for a local authority planning department. Peter is currently a non-practising solicitor.
Kristy Cooper trained at Norton Rose LLP (now Norton Rose Fulbright LLP) and, following qualification, worked as an associate in the tax department for six years. While there, Kristy specialised in advising on real estate taxation, funds taxation and general corporate taxation. Kristy is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Stamp Taxes Practitioners Group. She joined Practical Law in February 2013. Kristy is currently a non-practising solicitor.
Neil Richardson qualified with Simmons & Simmons in 2000 and spent the following five years working as an assistant solicitor in their Private Capital Group, where he dealt with a range of onshore and offshore tax and trust matters. After a brief spell as an associate solicitor in the Tax Department at SJ Berwin LLP, he joined Clarke Willmott LLP in 2006 as their first Professional Support Lawyer in the private client field. Neil joined Practical Law Private Client in September 2010 and is currently a non-practising solicitor.
Anne O'Connor trained at Withers LLP and qualified into the commercial property team in 2010. She studied at the University of Cambridge, the University of St Andrews and Durham University, and before converting to law she enjoyed an academic career as a historian of science at Durham University. Anne joined Practical Law in July 2012 and is a junior editor for Practical Law Property. She is currently a non-practising solicitor.
