Helen Padley trained at Denton Wilde Sapte (now Dentons) and worked as a professional support lawyer in their technology, media and telecommunications department for ten years. She subsequently worked at the Legal Services Commission for a year and the British Broadcasting Corporation for two years, where she specialised in data protection and freedom of information compliance. Helen also holds the ISEB certificate in data protection. Helen is currently a non-practising solicitor.
Erika Hayes trained and qualified at McCann FitzGerald in Dublin, where she practised in IP, IT, data protection and e-commerce matters. Erika was seconded to Google during this time, where she was responsible for corporate legal compliance in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Erika then moved to Bircham Dyson Bell in London, where she practised for two years on a range of commercial, IP and information law matters, specialising in data protection law. Erika has a first in Business and Legal Studies from University College Dublin, which included a year studying at the law school of DePaul University in Chicago. Erika is currently a non-practising solicitor.
Rachel Tregear trained at Simmons & Simmons and qualified into their IP department, before moving to other City law firms to practise IP law. From 2001 to 2014, Rachel worked at Addleshaw Goddard as a professional support lawyer specialising in data protection and IP. In 2015 she took up a new role with Addleshaw Goddard as a member of their risk team, focusing on data protection compliance. Rachel gained a distinction in the Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection. Rachel is currently a non-practising solicitor.
Judith Rauhofer is a former solicitor. She qualified as a solicitor in 1999, having previously qualified as a Rechtsanwalt in Germany. She practised for four years at Lewis Silkin, specialising in data protection, e-commerce and general commercial law. She also is a Lecturer in IT Law at the University of Edinburgh and an Associate Director of the Centre for Studies of Intellectual Property and Technology Law (SCRIPT), where her research focus is on data protection law, a field in which she has published articles and presented papers at conferences and workshops. Judith is not practising at Practical Law
Roger Wesson trained at Slaughter and May and worked in their corporate and commercial department for two years after qualifying. He then practised media and IP law for two years with Denton Hall (now Dentons), before moving to Allison & Humphreys (which later merged with Field Fisher Waterhouse), where he was a partner for five years, specialising in media and IP&T law. He is Head of Practical Law Data Protection, Practical Law IP&IT and Practical Law Media & Telecoms. Roger is currently a non-practising solicitor.
Charlotte Murphy graduated from the University of Leeds in 2010 with a BA Hons in English Literature and Language (International), which included a year’s study at the Australian National University as part of the Worldwide Exchange programme. Following two years’ experience in the technology industry, she went on to complete her GDL at the Manchester Metropolitan University and was called to the Bar in 2015. She joined Practical Law in January 2015 and is an assistant editor for the Commercial, IP&IT, Media & Telecoms and Data Protection teams.
Niovie Constantinou graduated from the University of Reading in 2012 with a law degree. She subsequently completed a postgraduate degree on Corporate Law at University College London in 2013, and the LPC at the University of Law (London, Bloomsbury) in 2014. Niovie joined Practical Law Corporate as a paralegal in 2014 and is an assistant editor for the Commercial, IP&IT, Media & Telecoms and Data Protection teams.
