The Franchising Global Guide provides country-specific Q&A guides on local and international franchising. Chris Wormald is a partner and co-head of franchising and brand development in Fieldfisher's London office, with vast experience of domestic and international franchising over more than 30 years. A law graduate of Cambridge University he was admitted as a Solicitor in 1979, first practising in international tax structuring at Simmons & Simmons in London, before joining McDonald's EMEA headquarters and development office in Germany as General Counsel at age 30 and being promoted to Vice President a year later. He returned to private practice after ten years with McDonald's and ran Eversheds' franchising practice for 12 years before joining Fieldfisher in 2009.

He has for many years been consistently rated by Chambers and the other independent legal directories as as a leader and expert in franchising. Together with his partner at the time, Martin Mendelsohn, he was one of the first two non-US lawyers ranked by Who’s Who Legal, the official research partner of the International Bar Association (IBA), in its then shortlist of the 10 Most Highly Regarded Individuals globally. Before its abolition, he was a member of the British Franchise Association's (BFA) Legal Committee.

Over the years he has advised many businesses on the non-legal implications of franchising, variant structures and their expansion options and has been a director of two niche consultancy businesses.

He writes and speaks frequently on franchising and alternative business expansion structuring and is a member of the BFA, the International Franchise Association, the IBA and the American Bar Association. He has lived and worked in Brussels and Frankfurt and speaks English, French and German.
