Transforming our justice system: statement from senior judges and MoJ consultation

The Lord Chancellor, Lord Chief Justice and the Senior President of Tribunals have published a joint statement on their shared vision for the future of Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service. At the same time, the Ministry of Justice, the body responsible for developing and implementing the policy proposals, has published a consultation, outlining what it is doing to achieve reform, and inviting views on certain specified measures. The consultation covers the civil and criminal courts, family proceedings and tribunals. This update focuses on the civil courts aspects.
Note: The Ministry of Justice has extended the deadlines for responding to the consultation to 10 and 24 November 2016. For more information, see Legal update, Extended deadlines for Transforming our justice system consultation.
