Combined authority's consultation on expanded constituent area is deemed unlawful (High Court)

The High Court has delivered its judgment in R (Derbyshire County Council) v Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield Combined Authority [2016] EWHC 3355 (Admin) (21 December 2016), holding that the defendant combined authority's consultation on an expanded constituent area did not satisfy the statutory criteria in section 113 of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009.
