Parliamentary committees to publish reports on the effect of Brexit on civil justice and cooperation on 20 and 22 March

The House of Lords EU Justice Sub-Committee and the House of Commons Justice Committee will publish their reports on the implications of Brexit for civil justice and cooperation on 20 and 22 March, respectively.

We have heard from the House of Lords EU Justice Sub-Committee and the House of Commons Justice Committee that they will publish their reports on the implications of Brexit for civil justice and cooperation on 20 and 22 March, respectively.

The report of the House of Lords EU Justice Sub-Committee follows its inquiry on civil justice cooperation and the Court of Justice of the European Union (ECJ). It is expected, among other things, to set out the ramifications of the UK's departure from the EU for civil justice cooperation, focusing on the jurisdictional framework set out in the Brussels Regulations and on the jurisdiction of the ECJ.

The report of the House of Commons Justice Committee follows its inquiry on the impact of Brexit on the civil and criminal justice system and legal services. The report is expected to set out recommendations concerning the issues that will need to be addressed by the government during the Brexit negotiations.
