Consultation on regulations to implement the neighbourhood planning provisions in the Neighbourhood Planning Bill

The Department for Communities and Local Government has issued a technical consultation on the implementation of the neighbourhood planning provisions in the Neighbourhood Planning Bill (NPB 2016-17).
The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) is seeking detailed views on proposed regulations to implement the neighbourhood planning provisions contained in the Neighbourhood Planning Bill 2016-17 (NPB 2016-17). The NPB 2016-17 was introduced to the House of Commons on 7 September 2016 and aims to:
  • Help identify and free up more land to build homes.
  • Speed up the delivery of new homes, in particular by reducing the time it takes to get from planning permission being granted to building work happening on site and new homes being delivered.
Paragraphs 1 to 6 of the NPB 2016-17 contain the neighbourhood planning provisions.
The DCLG is consulting on proposed regulations relating to:
  • The procedures for modifying neighbourhood plans and orders.
  • The modification of designated neighbourhood areas where a neighbourhood plan has already been made in relation to that area.
  • The review of statements of community involvement by local planning authorities at regular intervals.
The consultation closes on 19 October 2016.
